Vicky Lynn Smith-DeHeer, age 57, of Marysville, Iowa, passed away Wednesday morning, May 22, 2013, suddenly at her residence in Marysville.
Vicky was born in Albia, Iowa on November 12, 1955, the daughter of Richard Delmer and Geraldine (Albaugh) Smith. Vicky attended Twin Cedars High School and graduated in the Class of 1973. During high school Vicky worked with the Overall Factory in Pella. After high school Vicky worked at Rolscreen and for several years with the Overall Factory as a surging. She also had worked at B & B Bedding and most recently was babysitting for her family.
Vicky and David Lee Knox were companions and were blessed with a daughter: Tanya Smith. In 1981 Vicky and Mark DeHeer were united in marriage and they were blessed with two sons: Nathan and Derek DeHeer. Vicky and Mark later divorced in 1995.
Vicky had many enjoyments in life, especially her children and grandson: Quincy. In her youth she like to draw, paint, craft making and poetry. She also liked to ride horses, rock hunt, traveling in the southwest, baking sugar cookies, dancing, puzzles and antiques. Most recently she enjoyed landscaping her home, reading Steven King novels, raising her six cats and gaming on the computer, especially World of War Craft.
Vicky is survived by her children: Tanya Smith and companion Scott Meyer of Lovilia, Nathan (Terri) DeHeer of Lovilia and Derek DeHeer of Marysville; one grandson, Quincy. Vicky is also survived by two brothers: Mike Smith of Marysville and Bob (JoLinda) Smith of Knoxville; and three sisters: Karen (Jake) Keegel of Lovilia, Tess (Dale) Kline of Knoxville and Connie (Pat) Flattery of Marysville; her grandfather Kenneth Allison of Bussey; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Richard and Geraldine; and her grandparents.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 25th, at the Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville, with Randy Klobnak officiating. Burial will follow services at the Marysville Cemetery.
Visitation for Vicky will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., also Saturday, May 25, 2013, at the Winfield Funeral Home in Knoxville, with Vicky’s family present.
