| Dr. E. M. “Ed” Benjamin, D.D.S., 84, of Worthington, passed away at 12:30 P. M. Sunday, July 22, 2012 at his residence.
He was born September 29, 1927 in Worthington, to Clarren & Mary (Meiring) Benjamin. He was a dentist in Worthington for over 50 years graduating from I. U. School of Dentistry in 1952 and a B. S from Purdue in 1948. He was in the U. S. Public Health service, and did research at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, MD. He was a former member of the Indiana State Board of Dental Examiners, serving as president 1999 to 2000 and formerly on the board of directors of Peoples Trust Bank in Linton. He was a member of Folsom Memorial United Methodist Church in Worthington, serving on the board of trustees for several years, also Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity at Purdue and Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity I.U., Elks in Linton, Masonic Lodge in Worthington. Ed is survived by his wife, Susan (Schloot) Benjamin, who he married in 1951; 3 children, Jill (Jerrill) Vandeventer, Jasper; Jim (Mary Conway) Benjamin, Columbus; Dr. Scott (Kelly Cisewski) Benjamin, Columbus; 9 grandchildren, Tyler (Tiffany) Vandeventer, Tory (Jordan) Pearman, Tara (Tim) Vickers, Chris, Nate, Noah, Kane, Kota & Keagan Benjamin; 3 great grandchildren, Rhett, Gram & Marina. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral service, Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington, 1:00 P. M. Wednesday, with Rev. Terry Marker officiating.
