| | | Sallie Frances Firkins, age 88 of Hadley, passed away Friday morning, June 8, 2012, at her daughters residence in Roachdale. She was born in Metcalfe County, Kentucky on April 1, 1924, the daughter of William & Esther (Williams) Bunch.
Sallie was a member of the Hadley Friends Meeting Church in Hadley. Her other memberships include the American Legion & VFW Ladies Auxiliary’s of Linton, the Danville Senior Citizens, and the Ladies Aid of the Hadley Friends Meeting Church. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by a son, Bill (Shirley) Firkins of Linton, a daughter, Jeanette (Chuck) Kleiber of Roachdale, a daughter-in-law, Margaret Firkins of Clayton, a sister, Maxine Firkins of Monon, five grandchildren, Howard (Michelle) Firkins, Cherril (Gary) Crawford, Teresa Thomas, Gary (Terri) Singleton,& Cindy (Todd) Walton, seven great-grandchildren, Dylan, Aaron (Alee), Holly, Wyleigh, Allie, Aubrey, & Adalyn, and three great-great grandchildren, Colton, Hunter, & Maddie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Finis M. Firkins, a son, Wilbert Firkins, three brothers, Robert, William, & Alan Bunch, & four sisters, Grace, Carrie Hicks, Ruth DeVore, & Mary DeVore.
Funeral Service will be held at Hadley Friends Meeting Church in Hadley, Indiana at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 11, 2012, with Chris Wynn officiating. Burial will follow at Hadley Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday at the church from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., and Monday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service.
Memorial donations can be made to Hadley Friends Meeting Church and envelopes will be available at the church.
Arrangements are being handled by Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton.
