William Norris Burt, age 80 of Linton, formerly of Shelbyville, died at 6:25 P.M. on Friday, October 27, 2006, at the Union Hospital of Terre Haute. He was born in Jackson County, Arkansas on April 23, 1926, the son of Sydney & Pinkie Pearl (Sammons) Burt. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He worked as an Electrician for Chrysler Electric Plant in Indianapolis, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ south of Linton, was Past Grand Marshall of the Indiana Masonic Lodge, Past Worshipful Master of the Farmers Masonic Lodge, & Past Worthy Patron of the Flat Rock Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Kathleen (Hill) Burt of Linton, five daughters, Ann Bullock & husband J.D. of Norfolk, VA, Sue Burt of Linton, Janice Ledford of Shelbyville, Brenda Mott of Little Lake, MI, & Pat Burt of Linton, two sons, Bill Burt & wife Carla of Shelbyville, & Roger Burt & wife Sherri of Franklin, a sister, Glenna Crabb of Tuckerman, Arkansas, eighteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Tony Ledford, three brothers, and one sister.
Graveside services will be held at the Arlington East Hill Cemetery in Arlington at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 31, 2006.
A visitation will be held at the Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, 140 E. Vincennes St., Linton on Sunday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a Shared Memories Service at 7:00 P.M.
A visitation will be held at Murphy Parks Funeral Service, 703 S. Harrison, Shelbyville on Monday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., with a Masonic Service conducted at 7:00 P.M. by the Farmers Masonic Lodge.
