Betty Jane Abrell, 79, of Worthington passed away 2:28 A. M., Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at her residence.
She was born Dec. 23, 1929 in Spencer, to Horace & Olive (Galimore) Johnson.
She was a homemaker, she had worked in restaurants as a cook, waitress and bartender. She stared helping her father in his restaurant when she was 12. She was a member of the Spencer United Methodist Church, American Legion and V. F. W. Ladies Auxiliaries in Worthington.
She is survived by one daughter, Cathy (Gary) Altman, Ferdinand; one son, Chris (Sharon) Meek, Haines City, FL; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Ross Johnson, Evansville; Jim Johnson, Mooresville; Cy Johnson, Fishers; also several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Harold Meek; second husband, Russ Abrell; son, Craig Meek; 2 sisters and 2 brothers.
Funeral service Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington, Noon Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009, with David Coffee officiating.
Friends may call at Welch & Cornett 3:00 to 8:00 P. M. Friday and 9:00 A. M. Saturday until time of service.
Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery.
