Woodrow V. Baker, 94, of Elnora, passed away at 10:10 A. M., Tuesday, March 17, 2009, at his residence.
He was born April 14, 1914, in Daviess Co. to Voris B. & Cora (Martin) Baker.
He was welder for over 50 years. He was a Navy veteran of WW II, member of V.F.W. & American Legion. He was on the John Mellencamp “The Lonesome Jubilee” album cover.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Kathryn (Dale) Baker, Elnora; 15 children, Jerry, Texas; Joseph, Bloomington; Judith Fluckey, Jasper; Michael, Florida; Phillip, Bloomington; Donald, Nashville, TN.; Robert, Elnora; Shannon Baker, Elnora; Merri Mottern, Indianapolis; Cathy Thompsom, Prospect, OR; Woodrow, Elnora; LaDonna Bowen, Sandborn; David, Madison, Ohio; Rebecca Pearson, Bloomfield; James, Washington; 40 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Funeral service will be at the Newberry Church of the Nazarene, 2:00 P. M. Sunday, March 22, 2009 with Rev. William Pursell officiating.
Friends may call at the church 4:00 to 8:00 P. M. Saturday and 1:00 P. M. Sunday until time of service.
Memorial may be given to the Church or donors choice.
