Andrew Duane “Andy” Barnes, age 38 of Linton, died at 12:50 P.M. Friday, February 06, 2009, at the Greene County General Hospital in Linton. He was born in Linton on January 3, 1971, the son of Kenton S. Barnes & Barbara A. (Correll) Griffin. Andy worked through the Four Rivers Resource Center at the Angell’s Food Store in Linton. He was an avid Linton-Stockton sports fan, being well known as Linton’s #1 fan. He was a member of the Faith Community Church of Dugger.

He is survived by his father, Kenton S. (Sandy) Barnes of Linton, his mother, Barbara A. Griffin of Linton, his maternal grandmother, Geneva Barnes of Linton, two brothers, Tim (Kim) Barnes of Linton & Maccabee (Angela) Griffin who is currently service in Iraq, two nieces, Megan & Courtney Barnes, a nephew, Jaxon Griffin, and his aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, Aaron R. Griffin on Oct. 15, 2002.

Funeral Service will be held at the Linton First Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 10, 2009, with Pastor Shawn Farris officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Visitation will be held at the Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on Monday from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M., and at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service.

Memorial donations can be made to the Andy Barnes memorial Fund or the Linton-Stockton Athletic Department through the funeral home.
