R. Michael “Mike” Ahern, 65, of Jasper passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at IU Med Center in Indianapolis.
He was born Feb. 24, 1943, in Indianapolis, to Robert & Helen (Bugher) Ahern.
He was President & CEO of Springs Valley Bank & Trust in Jasper and formerly worked at Merchants National Bank in Indianapolis. He was past president of Southern VI Corp. He was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, a member of Indiana Bankers Association, and he had served in the Indiana National Guard. He received the Sagamore of the Wabash award from Gov. Frank O’Bannon on Sept. 23, 2000.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Padgett) Ahern, Jasper; his father, Robert Ahern, Florida; children, Jerry (Debbie) Ahern, Indianapolis; Sandy (Mark) James, Indianapolis; Debi (Tom) Haines, Cincinnati, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Olivia, Evan, Ian, Riley and Tyler;
He was preceded in death by his mother, daughter Holly Hogue.
Memorial service, 1:00 P. M., Monday, Oct. 6, 2008 at Shiloh United Methodist Church, 1971 W. State Road 56, Jasper, IN 47546, with Revs. Steve Seitz & Gerald Frye officiating.
Friends may call at Shiloh Church after 11:00 A. M. Monday until time of service.
Private family burial services will be held at Worthington Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Shiloh United Methodist Church or Dubois County Humane Society.
