Joseph R. Beadle, 83, Linton, formerly of Galesburg, IL died Tuesday morning, July 29, 2008 at Forest Creek Village Rehab Center, Indianapolis, IN.
He was born August 8, 1924 in Greene County, the son of Rev. Noah A. and Maggie (Norris) Beadle. He married Hazel U. Oberle on May 22, 1950 in Pittsfield, IL. She preceded him in death on November 22, 2007.
He is survived by a son, John F. Oberle (Sydney) of Naples, FL, a daughter, Sandra K. Verplaetse (John) of Cambridge, IL, 2 brothers, Carl Beadle (Lenora) of Dugger, IN, Bill Beadle (Kay) of Rushville, IN, and 2 sisters, Georgia (Beadle) Ansorge of Jasonville, IN and Ruth (Beadle) Fauvergue (Robert) of Indianapolis, 9 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Patrick “Rick” Oberle on October 23, 1990, 4 brothers, Claude, Noah, Jr., James, and Max Beadle, and 2 sisters, Eunice Brown and Ruby Fraser.
Joe was retired from Peabody Coal Company and an ordained minister. He was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church in Galesburg and served as the Illinois District Representative for Unchained Ministries, Inc.
Joe served in the military police from 1943 to 1946 in the United States Army during World War II.
Funeral will be 1 PM Friday, August 1, 2008 at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Galesburg, IL, Rev. Bob Malone officiating. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens with Military Rites by Ralph M. Noble American Legion Post 285.
Visitation will be noon to 1 PM Friday at the church. Memorials may be made to Calvary Assembly of God Church or the Galesburg Rescue Mission. Online condolences may be made at www.h-p-w.com. Arrangements are being handled by Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Galesburg, IL.
