Mildred M. Allen, age 85, of Franklin, formerly of Linton, passed away on May 7, 2008 at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin. She was born on December 20, 1922 in Hymera,Indiana, to Everett and Hazel (French) Scott.
She was the owner/operator of Allen Flower Shop in Linton & retired after twenty-five years from RCA in Bloomington.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, both in Linton
She married Jack J. Allen on November 2, 1942. He preceded her in passing on July 21, 1985.
Survivors include one son, Joseph D. (Karen) Allen of Franklin; one daughter, Jennie L. (Wendell) Sparks of Linton; one brother, Jack Scott of Texas; three sisters, Patty Kennedy of California, Sharon Mercado of California and Janice Carroll of Kentucky; five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Thomas N. Scott, and one sister, Rosalie Sargent.
Funeral services will be conducted at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton on 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 12, 2008, Bro.'s Dick Smith & Jerry Carmichael officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Monday from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
