Mary Edith Akre, age 99, of Coronado, CA, formerly of Linton, passed away at 1:00 P.M. Tues., Nov. 20, 2007, at her residence in Coronado. She was born Jan. 7, 1908, in Linton, the daughter of Henry Klink & Elizabeth (Schloot) Klink.
After graduating from Indiana University, she was a high school teacher in Linton for four years until she married Robert L. Akre. She was a member of Saron United Church of Christ in Linton & attended the Resurrection Lutheran Church in Coronado.
Survivors include her son, Philip R. Akre, M.D. of Coronado, CA, a granddaughter, Adrienne Louise Akre of Coronado, CA, a grandson, Stefan Schermerhorn of Fairfax, CA, & a great-granddaughter, Marianne Leigh Akre of Coronado, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Akre, in 1976, a granddaughter, Marianne Elizabeth Akre, in 2001, a sister, Mildred Morgan, & her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 2:30 P.M. Thurs., Nov. 29, 2007, Rev. Mike Roth officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. Thurs. until the time of service.
