Ann C. Blaes, age 100, of Tiffin, Ohio, died April 29, 2002. She was born on July 27, 1901 to Charles H. and Matilda (Steinmetz) Blaes. Survivors include 4 nieces, Charoltte Schumm and Phyllis Sturdevant both of Tiffin; Barbara Fair of Centerburg, Ohio; and Kathleen Koontz of Denver, Colorado; 2 nephews, Edmund and Ralph Szablewski both of Tiffin. She is predeceased by 1 sister, Mary Szablewski, 1 brother, Peter Blaes, 1 niece, Martha Lewis and 2 nephews, Richard Blaes and Louis Szablewski.
Miss Blaes was the only surviving member of the class of 1919 of the Ursuline Academy, Tiffin. She had worked for 50 years for Prescott-Ball-Turben Investment Bankers, Cleveland, Ohio retiring in 1977 as secretary to the president. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Holy Family Cancer Guild in Cleveland, and Tiffin St. Joseph, the Holy Rosary Altar Society, the Leisure Bridge Club, where she continued to play bridge until her death; she returned to Tiffin, in 1982 after living in Cleveland for 50 years.
