| | | Valeria T. Bentz, 93, formerly of Autumn Lane, died at 4:35am Friday, February 22, 2008 at St. Francis Home, Tiffin.
She was born on December 15, 1914 to the late Peter and Antoinette (Huss) Elchert. On February 6, 1937, she married Franklin F. Bentz at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1965.
Survivors include two sons, David Bentz and Kenny (Evelyn) Bentz, both of Tiffin; three daughters, Joan (Dr. Dale) Kieffer, Mary Alice (Carl) Cessna, both of Tiffin, and Marg (John) Hoover of Bascom; 21 grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Frederick Elchert of New Riegel, and Richard Elchert of Nuremburg, Germany; one sister, Irene Walters of Tiffin, and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Ward of Tiffin.
Mrs. Bentz was preceded by a son, Jerry Bentz, sister Bertha Rogier, three brothers, Loren, Gerald, and Edmund Elchert, and one granddaughter, Michelle Hoover.
Valeria was a retired cafeteria worker at Columbian High School, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Rosary Altar Society.
A Funeral Mass will be at 11am on Monday, February 25, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church officiated by her godson, Rev. Gary Walters. The Rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to the Mass. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery immediately following the Mass.
Friends and family may call from 11:30am to 1:30pm Sunday, February 24, 2008 at St. Francis Home Chapel and from 5pm to 8pm at Traunero Funeral Home 214 S. Monroe Street Tiffin, Ohio 44883 419-447-3113. A Wake Service will be Sunday evening at 7:45pm at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, St. Joseph Catholic Church or the St. Francis Home.
