Lawrence Edward “Larry” Baumgartner, age 76 years of 402 E. Market Street, Tiffin, Ohio died at 6:42 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2003 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Maumee, Ohio. He was born on May 25, 1927 in Sandusky, Ohio to Lawrence and Dorothy (Hobert) Baumgartner. His mother,
Dorothy Weltlin survives, in Sandusky. Mr. Baumgartner married Anne Cronenberger on June 25, 1948 in Sandusky, and she survives in Tiffin.
Other survivors include, 1 son, Larry (Patricia) Baumgartner of Hilliard, Ohio; 6 daughters, Linda (Luke) Theis of Findlay, OH; Gail Baumgartner of Louisville, KY; Laurie (Robert) Preston of Westerville, OH; Karen “Cookie” (Brian) Hammond of Troy, OH; Connie (Thomas) Rasmussen of St. Petersburg, FL; and Kristine (Darin) Ranker, Marysville, OH; 21 grandchildren, and 1 sister, Joyce (Richard) Jacalone of Owosso, MI.
Mr. Baumgartner served in the United States Army during WWII, where he received the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Baumgartner had retired as a Sales Manager for Sears and Roebuck Co. after 29 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Elks #94, Seneca Hills Golf Club, Knights of Columbus #608.
There will be a wake service on Thursday, June 5 at 8:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home and an Elks Sorrowful Service also on Thursday at the Funeral Home with the time to be announced later. The Funeral Mass will be conducted by Rev. Frank Murd at St. Mary Catholic Church on Friday, June 6 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or to Heartbeat of Tiffin, P.O. Box 223, Tiffin, Ohio 44883.
