ARMSTRONG, Joe W. age 92 of Beavercreek, OH, born in Dayton, OH, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 19, 2009. Joe was a graduate of Whittier & Roosvelt High Schools, a World War II Army Veteran, and retired after 43 years of service from McCalls Publishing. After retiring to FL for nearly 30 years, Joe and his wife returned to Beavercreek, OH last year. He was the son of John Addison and Caroline Mortz Armstrong. Joe was the fourth son in a family of eight brothers and sisters. He is survived by his loving and cherished wife of nearly 73 years, Lola Wilson Armstrong; three adoring children, John Armstrong & wife Yutonia of FL and PA; Joanne Andrew & husband Woody, of Beavercreek, OH, and Debbie Burnett & husband Gary of Chattanooga, TN; seven grandchildren, John, Jim, Robin, Greg, Mark, Troy, and Tim; nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; a sister, Wanda Thornton of Union, OH; many nieces and nephews. He loved and cherished most of all, his wife and devoted his life to his family. Joe had a special fondness for flowers, birds, animals, and especially, his dog Bonnie. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who loved him. Memorial service 11 am Friday, March 27, 2009 at Miami Valley Memory Gardens Cemetery Chapel, 1639 E. Lytle Five Points Rd. and St. Rt. 48. Pastor Pete Peterson officiating. Entombment, Miami Valley Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the cemetery chapel Friday, from 10 am until time of service. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the nurses and caregivers at Hospice of Dayton for their loving care and devotion.
