DOROTHY NEEDHAM WEBER

After a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease, Dorothy Needham Weber, 90, died peacefully February 3, 2009 in Centerville, OH. Dorothy Weber was a long time resident and educator of Rochester, NY. She became the first female department head of physical education in the Rochester Public Schools in the 1960's. She went on to have a distinguished, 20 year career in the Rochester Public Schools, eventually becoming Dean of Girls, and was awarded "Dean of the Year" in 1975. Prior to her educational career, she worked as an educational representative for Bristol Myers, and she also taught at the University of Texas. Dorothy received her BS from Barnard in 1940, and her MA from Wellesley College. Dorothy Needham married John Weber in 1950 and had six children, all of whom survive her. She was active in her community as a president of the American Association of University Women, and with the Scouting program.
Dorothy Needham Weber is survived by her husband John, and their children: Edward (Angela Marchesi), Margaret (Britt Hall), Jane Straus (Isidore), William (Susan), Barbara Castilano (Charlie), and Paul (Jeanne). She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Amelia, Katelyn, Hunter, Paul, Amy, Ryan, Sara, Elizabeth, Andrew, and Jane and would, no doubt, take great pride in the knowledge that all of them are attending college. A private family memorial is planned for this spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Dayton OH 3797 Summit Glen Dr. Ste.
