| ADAMS, Russell C., age 76 of Centerville, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at Hill Spring Health Center in Springboro. Russ was born in Dayton on August 16, 1932 to Robert S. and Laura (Beach) Adams. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving daughters, Stephanie Paxson and her husband, Mark of Centerville and Amanda Ware and her husband, Thomas of West Chester; step-daughter, Christen Gadowski and her husband, Kevin of Dana Point CA; step-son, K.C. McAlister III and his wife Angie of Jamestown; and his sister, Susan Land of Bellbrook. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Jessica, Kyle and Brittany, along with nieces, Laura and Christy and their families. Russell will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Russ attended Bellbrook High School through his junior year, where he was active in sports, relocating to Dayton and graduating from Wilbur Wright High School. Russell then enlisted in the Navy and was stationed at Norfolk Naval Base, Norfolk VA. In 1955, he joined the Dayton Police force, where he served 29 years as a police officer, and later a detective, and assistant to Chief of Police. After retirement, Russell went on to work in security at the Mound Site in Miamisburg, along with Tobias and Newcomer Funeral Homes. Friends may call from 4-6:30 p.m. Monday, December 8, 2008 at the TOBIAS FUNERAL HOME – FAR HILLS CHAPEL, 5471 Far Hills Ave. at Rahn Rd., with a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Pastor Clyde O. Waites officiating. Private interment Dayton National Cemetery.
