The Thurman Funeral Home was established in 1922 when Mr. and Mrs. E. Thurman purchased the Stinnett Undertaking Company which had been founded in Richmond before the Civil War. Three generations of the Thurman family have witnessed the evolution of their firm from a store front business funeral parlor to the present spacious residential structure containing two complete chapels. In the firm''s earlier years, it provided ambulance service to the community, and pre-arranged funerals and cremations were unheard of. Today, in addition to offering traditional funeral service, alternative services, pre-arranged and pre-funded plans, cremation, and monuments are also available. Besides the Richmond facility, Thurman Funeral Home also provides their services through their chapel in Hardin, MO, and the newly-opened chapel in Norborne, MO. Their staff has grown from the two original founders to a fully licensed staff of six, which is headed by Michael Graff, president, and owner of the firm.
