Hyde Park - Doreen Audrey Croft, 78, a longtime Hyde Park resident, died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie.
Mrs. Croft worked for the Hoe Bowling Corporation for twenty-five years until her retirement in 1990.
Doreen was previously of Highland, and also spent some time in Tappan, NY during the 1990's.
She was very active with veteran's organizations and had held various offices over the years with different American Legion and VFW Ladies' Auxiliaries in both Hyde Park and Tappan. Most notably, she was Past President of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Tappan / Piermont American Legion.
Mrs. Croft was a member of the Netherwood Baptist Church.
Born in Rochester on December 19, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Elvira Percy Needham. She spent her youth in Catskill, and graduated from Highland Schools.
In Hyde Park in 1950, she married David Croft. Mr. Croft survives at home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, David Croft II of Hyde Park, Dennis Croft and wife, Dee, of Red Hook, Douglas Croft and wife, Carey, of Hyde Park; a daughter, Holly Neil of Winnipeg, Canada; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Lorraine Watters of California, Joan Seyboldt of Las Vegas, NV, and Theresa Cheney of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Paul Needham.
There are no calling hours.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
