Hyde Park - David A. Standen, 51, a local resident for thirty years and previously of Detroit and Kalkaska, Michigan, died unexpectedly Monday, September 28, 2009 at home.
Mr. Standen was a bartender at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. He also formerly tended bar at the Congress Tavern Restaurant in Poughkeepsie, the former Easy Street Restaurant in Hyde Park, and the former Brass Anchor in Hyde Park. David was also the manager of the former Griff's Bar in Poughkeepsie.
Born in Detroit on April 19, 1958, he was the son of Jack R. and Irene L. Sorenson Standen of Kalkaska. He was a graduate of Kalkaska High School.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by a sister, Laura Standen and companion, Michael Olsen, of Indian River, MI; brother, Paul Standen and companion, Lisa LuMetta, of Kalkaska, MI; sister, Amy Lesinger of Elwell, MI; two nephews, Robert Standen of Kalkaska, and Jack Lesinger of Elwell; many aunts, uncles and cousins, and a wealth of friends.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 Pm, Friday, October 2, 2009 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Visitation will also take place from 1 to 2 pm, Saturday, October 3rd prior to a celebration of David's life led by Rev. Arlene Dawber at 2 pm.
Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538.
