| | | Hyde Park - Shirley Ann Minholz, 66, a lifelong area resident, died Saturday, September 19, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie.
Shirley was an Executive Secretary for several local businesses, and along with her former husband, she was also the co-owner of the former Magoo's in Wappingers Falls, Tiki Club in LaGrangeville, and El's Deli in Hyde Park.
Shirley had a great compassion and love for animals, and at one time, was a co-owner of Trotter Racing Horses.
A1960 graduate of F.D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park, she was also a member of her classes' reunion committee.
Shirley was active as a Hyde Park Elections Inspector for over twenty years. In her earlier years, she also enjoyed bowling and bowled in several local leagues.
Ms. Minholz was a communicant of St. Peter's Church in Hyde Park.
Born in Poughkeepsie on September 22, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Concetta Marinucci Minholz. Shirley devotedly cared for her mother before her death.
Survivors include her cousins, Anne Karian and husband, Charles, of Conway, SC, Nancy Bishop and husband, Lionel, of Longs, SC, Nancy Marino of Wappingers Falls, Loretta Timmons and husband, William, of Hyde Park, and Dawn Plass and companion, George Livingston, of Pleasant Valley; many other cousins and devoted friends; and her former husband and friend, Elwood 'Ellie' Funk of Red Hook.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Mark Minholz; her only son, Todd Funk; and many aunts and uncles.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 pm, Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James A. Garisto at 10 am, Thursday, September 24th at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie.
Burial will follow in the family plot in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
