Hyde Park - Jane F. Frederick, 74, a lifelong area resident, died Monday, September 7, 2009 at the Lutheran Care Center in Poughkeepsie.
Before raising a family, Mrs. Frederick was a secretary for the former Dutton Lumber Co. in Poughkeepsie, and for Dr. Steinman at the Hudson River State Hospital.
A communicant of Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park, she was a member and past president of the church’s Legion of Mary.
Jane was a member of the former Mid-Hudson Catholic Club and an active member of the League of Women Voters.
Born in Poughkeepsie on February 14, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ann Tyne Yerick. She attended the State University of NY at New Paltz.
On September 17, 1960 in Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie, she married John J. Frederick. Mr. Frederick survives at home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Julie O'Malley and husband, Mike, of East Amherst, NY; a son, Peter Frederick and wife, Deb, of Newburgh; three granddaughters, Kathryn and Megan O'Malley, and Riley Frederick; twin sister, Joan DeGiacomo of New Paltz; sister, Rosemary Tether and husband, John, of Poughkeepsie; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Annette Yerick; and brother-in-law, Joseph DeGiacomo.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009 from 2 to 4, and 7 to 9 Pm at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Friday, September 11th, at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
