Hyde Park - Richard B. Munson, 66, a lifelong area resident, died Friday, August, 28, 2009 at the Renaissance Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center in Staatsburg.
Mr. Munson was a route supervisor for Freihofer's Baking Co. for twenty-one years. After Freihofer's, he held various sales positions. His greatest enjoyment was being an independent business owner with Amway along with his wife for twenty years.
Dick has resided most recently with his daughter in Hyde Park and was previously of Highland. He enjoyed golfing and camping with his family.
He proudly served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1967.
Born in Poughkeepsie on July 21, 1943, he was the son of the late Kenneth E. Munson and Vivian Owen Munson Seaman.
On December 26, 1962 in Poughkeepsie, he married Roberta Shelton. She predeceased him on February 6, 2009.
He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Munson of Hyde Park, and Lisa Sampson and husband, Michael, of Brisbane, Australia; three grandchildren, Brianne Carpenter, and Carter and Renata Sampson, all of Australia; and two nieces and two nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Munson.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Thursday, September 3, 2009 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Funeral services will be at 10 am, Friday, September 4th at the funeral home. Pastor Donald Moore will officiate.
Entombment with military honors will follow in the Mausoleum at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Newburgh.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice Foundation, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
