HYDE PARK - Larry F. Kozlowski, 90, a resident of Hyde Park since 1950, formerly of Poughkeepsie, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie. He was born in Poughkeepsie on Dec. 15, 1918 the son of Anthony and Mary Siek Kozlowski. He married the former Frances Ofca at St. Joseph's Church in Poughkeepsie on Oct. 28, 1945. She survives him at home. Mr. Kozlowski was a member of Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park and the Mens Club and Golf League of the Church and served as past president of the Mens Club. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. While serving in the Army, he was a participant in the 25th Infantry Division Basketball Championship in which he made the winning basket. He was a member of the Hyde Park American Legion Post 1303 and a member of the Polish-American Club. Mr. Kozlowski was employed by IBM in Fishkill, retiring in 1984. Larry was inducted into the Dutchess County Basketball Hall of Fame as well as the Softball Hall of Fame. In addition to his wife, Frances, he is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and John Caruso of Staatsburg; his grandson, John Caruso of Staatsburg; step granddaughter, Debby Annicelli of Somer, NY; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Steve. Calling hours will be 7-9 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 16, at Sweet's Funeral Home Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. The Hyde Park American Legion Post will conduct a service at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 17, at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Rev. Michael Palazzo will be the celebrant. Burial will be in the family plot at St. Joseph's Church in Poughkeepsie.
