An avid music lover, he played the trombone in many bands over the years including the Southern Dutchess Pops, Rhinebeck Legion Band, Saugerties Community Band, Dutchess County Council Band, and F. D. Roosevelt High School Alumni Band.
Ron also loved animals and enjoyed spending time in his gardens. He had his private pilot’s license and loved flying his plane “Hotel Victor.” He and Ann had many great adventures whether far from home or just around the Hudson Valley.
Born in the Bronx on February 4, 1940, he was the son of the late Karl and Beatrix King Boehm. He was a 1958 Graduate of F.D.R. High School in Hyde Park and veteran of the United States Air Force.
On September 7, 1963 in Our Lady of Fatima Church in Plattekill, NY, he married Ann Porcaro. Mrs. Boehm survives at home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a sister, Doris Lyons of Hyde Park; niece, Georgia Lyons Verven and husband, Angelo, of Staatsburg; nephew, Edward Lyons and wife, Elizabeth, of Amherst, NY; great niece, Nancy Verven Simou and husband, Telly, of Pleasant Valley; great nephew, Stephen Verven and wife, Amanda, of Hyde Park; and great niece, Elissa Lyons, and great nephew, Evan Lyons, both of Amherst.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Thursday, August 13th at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
