Mr. Stanley W. Czaplinski

Hyde Park - Stanley W. Czaplinski, 89, a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, August 6, 2009 at home.
Mr. Czaplinski was in management at IBM, retiring in June of 1975.
He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club, Polish American Citizens Club, Hyde Park Fire Dept, and AARP.
Stanley was also a member of several bowling leagues, and he enjoyed motor boating, fishing, playing horseshoes, gardening, and cutting down trees.
He proudly served in the U. S. Marine Corps during World War II and had attained the rank of Master Technical Sergeant with the VMF Night Fighter Squadron #542 with the 2nd Marine Air Wing in the Pacific area. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, and rifle sharpshooter honor.
Mr. Czaplinski was a communicant of Regina Coeli Church, Hyde Park.
Born in Poughkeepsie on August 26, 1919, he was the son of the late Thomas W. and Helen Nellner Czaplinski. He attended Arlington schools and was a graduate of the New York Electrical Maintenance School.
On April 13, 1947 in St. Joseph's Church, Poughkeepsie, he married Ellanore Lis. His wife of 59 years predeceased him on July 5, 2006.
He is survived by a sister, Helen Murphy of Pleasant Valley, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by three brothers, Charles, Frank, and Thomas V. Czaplinski; and two sisters, Florence Lockhart and Marian Manda.
There are no calling hours.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sweet’s Funeral Home, Inc., Hyde Park.
