Poughkeepsie - Stanley Arthur Mathison, 53, a long time Poughkeepsie resident and previously of Highland, died Monday, July 27, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital.
Mr. Mathison worked for a long time in the Environmental Services Dept. of Marist College and previously for ten years at the Town of Lloyd Water Plant.
He was an avid NY Yankee and NY Giants fan.
Born in Poughkeepsie on May 10, 1956, he was the son of Carl Mathison Jr., who survives in Highland, and the late Cora Kellerhouse Mathison. He was a graduate of Highland Schools.
In addition to his father, he is survived by four brothers, William Mathison and Edward Mathison and his fiancée, Mary Day, all of Poughkeepsie, Byron Mathison and James Harrington and his wife, Kim, all of Florida; four sisters, Denise Harrington of Kingston, Caroline Harrington of Rosendale, and Virginia Lutz and fiancé, Keith, and Christine Canino, all of Florida; a nephew, James Mathison of Florida; several nieces of both Florida and New York; and special friend, Sharon Barker and companion, Bob, of Poughkeepsie.
In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by his brothers, Christopher and Carl Mathison, sister, Dorothy Mathison, and sister-in-law, Christa Mathison.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4pm, on Friday, July 31, 2009 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.
