| | | Hyde Park - Raymond J. Anderson, 75, a longtime Hyde Park resident, died Friday, July 24, 2009 at home.
Mr. Anderson was a Draftsman with IBM in Poughkeepsie for thirty-five years, retiring in April, 1987.
Raymond enjoyed a long retirement spent fishing, taking pictures, and using his carpentry skills to make his specialty, Adirondack Chairs.
He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1962.
Mr. Anderson was a member of the Hyde Park United Methodist Church.
Born in Brooklyn on February 17, 1934, he was the son of the late Arvid and Anna Julia Anderson. He was a 1952 graduate of Poughkeepsie High School.
On March 11, 1956 in Poughkeepsie, he married Margaret MacIsaac. Mrs. Anderson survives at home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Rohn Anderson and wife, Jane of Poughkeepsie; four daughters, Donna Imperatori, Christina Ciampaglione and husband, Vincent, Kathryn Truitt and husband, Bill, and Robin Trainor and husband, Tim, all of Hyde Park; eleven grandchildren, Marc Anderson and wife, Nancie, Stephen and Daniel Anderson, Audrey Imperatori, Joey and Anna Ciampaglione, Will and Julia Truitt, and Travis, Amy, and Sarah Trainor; a great grandson, Bryan Anderson; three brothers, Kenneth Anderson and wife, Gail, of Gardiner, and Jon and Edward Anderson, both of Saugerties; and dear cousin Geraldine and husband Frank Schmidlin of Maryland several nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends, Bernie Herzfeld and wife, Marie, of Hyde Park.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 5 pm, Monday, July 27, 2009 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A funeral service will take place at 4:30 pm during the calling hours. Rev. Robert Thompson - Gee will be officiating.
In keeping with Raymond's wishes, cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.
