Hyde Park - Thomas D. Mangiarelli, 78, a lifelong local resident, died Monday, July 20, 2009 at home.
He was a Store Manager of the former Windsor Building Supplies until his retirement in 1998.
Mr. Mangiarelli served in the US Army during the Korean War.
He enjoyed square dancing, bowling, travelling, and most especially spending time with his family.
Known by many as “Dad” Mangiarelli, he was loved by many and had a heart of gold. Dad showed love to many young people and helped them get a good start in life.
Born December 6, 1930, in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late Anthony T. and Lillian Montanan Mangiarelli. He was a 1948 graduate of Poughkeepsie High School.
On November 24, 1957, in Poughkeepsie, he married Doris Woolley, who predeceased him on November 5, 2003.
He is survived by a son and his wife, Anthony and Jennifer Mangiarelli of Hyde Park; daughter and her husband, Karen and Todd Super of Boonville, NY; sister, Dorothy Teixeira of Hyde Park; brother and his wife, Robert and Millie Mangiarelli of Hyde Park; his precious grandchildren, Kristina, Meagan and Judy Super, Andrew and Randy Berry; several nieces and nephews and all his friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Charles "Chick" Teixeira.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009 from 7 to 9pm at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte 9, and Hyde Park.
Funeral Services will take place at 8:30pm during the calling hours. Father Michael Palazzo will officiate.
