| | | Hyde Park - Margot Mangold, 98, a Hyde Park resident since 1949 and previously of Poughkeepsie, died Thursday, July 2, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital.
Margot was the consummate sales person with such notable stores as Luckey's and Wallace's in Poughkeepsie, Neustadt Pharmacy in Hyde Park, and the John VanBuren T.V and Gift Store.
She was a communicant of Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park, longtime member and volunteer with the Dutchess County SPCA, and member of the Hyde Park Senior Activities Club. Mrs. Mangold was also a member of the Hyde Park Republican Women’s Organization, and the Dutchess County Grand Jurors Assoc. She had the distinction of sitting as a grand juror through the tenure of three Dutchess County District Attorneys.
Born in New York City on November 10, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Fay Ludwig. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s School and Poughkeepsie High School, and went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree from Lady Cliff College in Highland Falls.
On June 2, 1934 in Arlington, VA, she married Harold L. Mangold. He predeceased her on August 13, 1978.
Margot is survived by a son, Harold L. Mangold, and daughter-in-law and care provider, Marjorie A. Mangold, of Hyde Park; three grandchildren, Chris Mangold and wife, Dawn, of Conn. and their children, Alessandra and Ava, Tracy Mangold Amarosa and husband, Jay, of New Jersey and their children, Kristen and Jason, and Patricia A. Mangold Pecore and husband, Victor, of Delaware and their children, Alexis and Erica; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Henry and Joseph Ludwig, good friend and sister-in-law, Josephine Mangold, and her beloved cat, Junnie.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 7 pm, Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Monday, July 6th at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Burial will follow in the family plot in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538.
