| | | Hyde Park – Jeanne Marie Holzmann, 82, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away at home on Monday, June 29, 2009.
Born August 27, 1926 in Pepperell, Massachusetts, Jeanne was the daughter of the late Arthur Thomas and Ann Ouellette Rodier.
She married George Ludwig Holzmann at St. Patrick's Church in Brooklyn and raised six children.
When her children were older, she began working first for Nassau County BOCES as a Teaching Assistant. In 1974, when the family relocated to Hyde Park, she worked for the former Luckey, Platt & Company and Atlantic Design.
Jeanne was a congregant of St. Peter's Church in Hyde Park.
She was also an active member of AARP, the Red Hatters, the Hyde Park Seniors Activity Club, and the 39’ers at the Hyde Park United Methodist Church.
Jeanne enjoyed playing cards and doing ceramics. She also liked to travel, especially her yearly trips with her brother and sisters.
Jeanne is survived by her six children; Sandra Giannetti and her husband, Mario, and Barbara Brand, all of Long Island; Linda Herzlinger and her husband, Jeff, of Hyde Park; George Holzmann of Hyde Park; John Holzmann and his wife, Constance, of Red Hook; and Arthur Holzmann and his wife, Alice, of Lagrange; 14 grandchildren; 2 great ¬grandchildren; sister, Nancy Caron, and brother, Tom Rodier and his wife, Frances, both of Nashua, NH; sister-in-law, Geraldine Cassidy, and brother-in-law, Neil Holzmann and his wife, Catherine, all of Long Island; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Laurine Heath; brother-in-law, Donald Heath; nephew, Michael Heath; and son-in-law, Arthur Brand.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 pm, Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Sweet’s Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Friday, July 3rd at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter’s Parish, Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie. Rev. James A. Garisto will officiate.
Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hyde Park Seniors Activity Club, c/o the Hyde Park Recreation Dept., 4383 Albany Post Road, Hyde Park, NY 12538.
