| | | Wappingers Falls - Marguerite Rush, 88, a longtime Hyde Park resident, died Saturday, June 27, 2009 at her daughter's home in Wappingers Falls surrounded by her loved ones.
Along with her husband, Marguerite built and operated the former Bill's Service Station on Salt Point Road in Poughkeepsie.
Mrs. Rush was an avid New York Mets fan, a lifetime member of the Roosevelt Engine Co. #2 Ladies Auxiliary, and a former member of the Freedom Plains Senior Citizens.
She was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley.
Born in Milton on January 29, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Charles G. and Phoebe Freer Glancey.
She attended Milton Schools, was a graduate of Highland High School, and attended the former Krissler Business Institute in Poughkeepsie.
On August 11, 1940 in St. James' Church in Milton, she married William F. Rush. He predeceased her in 1975.
Marguerite is survived by three daughters, Gail Lawless and husband, James, of Wappingers Falls, Patricia Mount and husband, William, of Enterprise, FL, and Mary Bacon of Leroy, NY; six grandchildren, William P. Rush and wife, Jennifer, of Poughkeepsie, Dorinda Lawless Delaney of Poughkeepsie, Gunnery Sgt. James M Lawless and wife, Helen, of Hawaii, Damian Anson and Lisa, of Deltona, FL, Devon Bacon of Stafford, NY, and Nicole Bacon White and husband, Bradley, of Pavilion, NY; eleven great grandchildren, Jake, Megan, Karlie, Emma, and Natalie Rush, Shayna, Galen, and Shawn Slaughter, Jaelene Lawless, Morgan Delaney, and Connor Martin; a brother, Charles G. Glancey and wife, Joyce, of Rhinebeck, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, William C. Rush on November 17, 1973, and two sisters, Frances Glancey and Catherine McCollum.
Calling hours will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm, Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Thursday, July 2, 2009 at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
