Hyde Park - Veronica Mary Funyak, 79, a twenty four year Hyde Park resident formerly of Wappingers Falls, died Monday, June 15, 2009 at home.
Mrs. Funyak was former manager of the Brookside Gardens Apartments in Wappingers Falls and The Ledges Apartments in Hyde Park. She retired in 1987.
She enjoyed her grandchildren and spending vacations with her family in Wildwood, NJ.
Mrs. Funyak also liked playing bingo, and make trips to the casinos.
She was an avid NY Yankees fan.
A communicant of Regna Coeli Church in Hyde Park, she liked to attend church.
Born in Barnesboro, Penn. on June 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John Hrubochak Sr. and Mary Dvorsik Hrubochak.
On September 13, 1958 in Barnesboro, Penn., she married Edward Funyak. Mr. Funyak survives at home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Cecilia Martin and husband, Rick, and their children, Ricky, Jimmy, and Michael, all of Poughquag; daughter, Janet Ketcham and husband, Terry, and their children, Becky, Shelly, and Lisa Ketcham, all of Staatsburg; son, Edward Funyak and wife, Carol, and their children, Ben and Ryan Funyak, all of Niskayuna; seven siblings, Ann Vasiloff of Penn., John Hrubochak, Jr. of Penn., Peggy Togna of Poughkeepsie, Pauline Przybocki of Va., Helen Przybocki of Va., Paul Hrubochak of Penn., Cathy Stanek of Penn.; and sixty-two loved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Phillips and Betty Pettit; and a brother, Michael Hrubochak.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Friday, June 19, 2009 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
