Town of Stanford - Donald F. Roser, 83, a Stanford resident for over thirty years, died Friday, May 22, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie.
A Tool and Die maker, he worked for the former Boice Gages in Hyde Park, Cavalier Gages in Salt Point, Now Corporation in Staatsburg, and Fargo Manufacturing in Poughkeepsie. Don retired from Fargo Manufacturing in 1985.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1946 to 1948.
Don liked to work with his hands. He built his own home and he loved animals.
Born in Sidney, NY on July 18, 1925, he was the son of the late Fred and Ella Besmier Roser. He was educated in the Kingston School system.
In August, 1974 in Poughkeepsie, he married Helen E. Griffin. Mrs. Roser survives at home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Donna Rowland and husband, Tom, of Malden, NY; step-son, Brian Buko and wife, Judy, of Hyde Park; sister-in-law, Shirley Smith and husband, Donald, of Hyde Park; brother-in-law, Herbie Griffin and wife, Ruth, of Hyde Park; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
There are no calling hours.
Graveside services and burial will be held at 1 pm, Tuesday, May 26, 2009 in the family plot at St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie. Rev. Donald Hoger will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dutchess County SPCA, 636 Violet Ave., Hyde Park, NY 12538.
