| | | Port St. Lucie, FL – Thomas Ciro Bocchino, 83, died on May 17, 2009 at home after a short illness. Thomas was a lifelong resident of the Poughkeepsie area until moving to Port St. Lucie in 2007.
Born on January 25, 1926 in Poughkeepsie, NY he was the son of Albert Bocchino and Theresa Delsanto Bocchino.
Thomas served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Jacob Jones. He graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and the NY Institute of Photography. He was married on July 21, 1951 to Anne Marie Russett at St. Peter’s Church in Poughkeepsie.
In addition to his beloved wife, Anne Marie, Thomas is survived by his children: Susan Morgan and husband Dan of Port St Lucie, FL, Patricia Crocco and husband Edward of Port St. Lucie, FL, Thomas Bocchino and wife Kathie of Cary, NC, John Bocchino and wife Nora of Wappingers Falls, NY, Linda Boland and husband Buddy of Hyde Park, NY, Joseph Bocchino and wife Kim of Ellington, CT, Mary Meringolo and husband Tom of Hopewell Junction, NY. He had 21 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Anna Place of Poughkeepsie, NY, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father in 1989, his mother in February, 2009, his sister, Josephine Fanelli in 2002 and his dearly loved grandchildren, Johnny Bocchino in 1997 and Katie Crocco in 2007.
Tom worked for 40 years as an Audio Visual Specialist in Communications at IBM Poughkeepsie until his retirement in 1987. He was a communicant of St. Martin de Porres Church in Poughkeepsie and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Port St. Lucie Florida. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #7514 in Port St. Lucie, Elks Lodge #2609 in Wappingers Falls and Professional Photographers Association.
Tom was an avid fisherman and a master builder of all things. He loved music, woodworking, creating with his hands, traveling and most of all spending time with his family.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm, Thursday, May 21, 2009 at Sweet’s Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
St. Martin dePorres Council 7551 of the Knights of Columbus will conduct services at 7:15 pm during the calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James A. Garisto at 10 am, Friday, May 22nd at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter’s Parish, Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie.
Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
