Hyde Park - Peter John Heady Jr., 65, a lifelong Poughkeepsie resident, died Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at home.
Mr. Heady worked at Poughkeepsie Savings Bank for 32 years until his retirement in 1998. He also worked part-time at the former A & P Tea Company store in Arlington for 16 years.
In his younger years, Peter enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
He was a member of the Hyde Park United Methodist Church.
Born in Poughkeepsie on March 30, 1944, he was the son of the late Peter J. Heady Sr. and Dorothy M. Clinton Heady.
Peter was a 1963 Graduate of F.D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park and a 1966 graduate of Dutchess Community College.
On July 24, 1966 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Tivoli, he married Elaine C. Schmitt. Mrs. Heady survives at home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa Marie Wortman and husband, Dennis, of Hyde Park, and Lynn M. Enkler and husband, Kevin, of Pleasant Valley; five grandchildren, John Heady, Valerie and Jeremy Wortman, and Mason and Alexandra Enkler; two sisters, Cheryle Jennings and husband, Robert, and Donna Scivolette and husband, Joseph; two nephews, Robert Jennings and wife, Cheryl, and Bryan Scivolette; niece, Kristen Scivolette; aunt, Beatrice Clinton; and several cousins.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 Pm, Thursday, April 16, 2009 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Friday, April 17th at the Hyde Park United Methodist Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Rev. Eileen Freeman will be officiating.
Burial will follow in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
