Poughkeepsie - Dorothy A. Joyce, 98, a lifelong area resident, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Poughkeepsie. A former City of Poughkeepsie resident, she was a homemaker.Mrs. Joyce enjoyed doing crafts, dancing, and reading. She also liked to play cards and was once active in several bridge clubs.An avid bowler in her younger years, she once bowled in several local leagues.She was proud to be the matriarch of a five generation family and enjoyed spending time with all of her grandchildren. She was also a great story teller.    She was a member of St. James' Episcopal Church in Hyde Park. Born in Poughkeepsie on July 11, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Keyes and Katherine Ria Palmer Dusenbury. A 1928 graduate of Arlington High School, she attended the former New Paltz Normal School and graduated from the former Wood Puritan Secretarial School in Poughkeepsie. On June 16, 1930 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Poughkeepsie, she married Raymond A. Joyce Sr. He predeceased her on March 12, 1990.She is survived by her son, Raymond A. Joyce Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Clinton; daughter, Joan A. Oetjen and husband, August A. 'Bud' Oetjen Jr., of Poughkeepsie;  7 grandchildren, Kevin Joyce and Sue Morgan, Debbie Mears and husband, Jamie, Lori Joyce, and Sharon Desso and husband, Rob, all of Vermont, Kathy Cote and husband, Jerry, of Florida, Penny Oetjen - Simmons and husband, Phil Simmons, of Philmont, NY, and Duane Oetjen and wife, Becky, of Hyde Park; 17 great grandchildren, Janeen Sonnenberg, Jamie Day, Andrew and Ria Simmons, Karl and Emily Oetjen, Jessica Tirchawa and Jennifer Bombard, Melissa and Brian Cote, Jason, Randy, Teresa, Michael, and Matthew Gonzalez, Kyle Desso, and Olivia Morgan; 10 great great grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor, Brianna, Jonathan, Makayla, Brittany, Cameron, Trevor, Natasha, and Faith; step-grandchildren, Richard Johnson of Vermont, and Colleen Dorval of Kinderhook; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Kristine L. Oetjen; brother, Edwin Dusenbury; and two sisters, Virginia Christian and Evelyn Adams.Calling hours will be from 10 am to 12 noon, Friday, April 3, 2009 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm, Friday, at St. James' Episcopal Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Fr.
