Hutto, TX – David E. Staring, 68, a resident of Hutto since 1997 and former longtime area resident, died March 5, 2009 at home.
Mr. Staring retired from the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local #21 after forty-five years of service. In his retirement, he worked part-time at Home Depot in Texas for five years, and then with the Longhorn Water Treatment Co. until he became ill.
A former communicant of St. Peter’s Church in Hyde Park, Dave was a current member and lector of St. Patrick’s Church in Hutto.
A Third and Fourth Degree Knight, Dave was a former member of the Hyde Park Knights of Columbus Council #6111, and current member of the Msgr. James E. Fitzgerald 4th Degree Assembly #2245 in Round Rock, TX.
Dave was an avid golfer and former member of the Regina Coeli Men’s Club Golf League at Dinsmore Golf Course in Staatsburg. He also liked to bowl and was in several local leagues before moving to Texas. Most recently, he was a member of the “Get’er Done” bowling league.
While in Texas, Mr. Staring became a fan of the Astros, Spurs, and Texas A&M.
He was a lover of Dachshunds, and is survived by his beloved dogs, Gretchen and Roo.
Born in Little Falls, NY on August 8, 1940, he was the son of the late Ervin and Pauline Cheney Staring.
His family moved to Staatsburg in 1951 when he was 11 years old and he was a 1958 graduate of the former Staatsburg Union Free School. He was also active with the Police Athletic League Boxing Program in Staatsburg while growing up.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-nine years, Dorothy Dreyer of Hutto; daughter, Lisa (Walter)Beneway of Terrell, NC; son, Jeffrey (Mauria) Staring of St. Petersburg, FL; son, David E. Staring Jr. of St. Petersburg, FL; son, Thomas Staring of St. Augustine, FL; daughter, Candy Turco of Saugerties; daughter, Brenda (Brian) Dreyer of Round Rock, TX; ten grandchildren; sister, Jeanne Ann (Pete) Albertson of Hyde Park; niece, Paula Albertson of Wake Forest, NC; nephew, Mark Albertson of Staatsburg; great niece, Brittany Albertson of Staatsburg; uncle, Gilbert R. Staring of Troy, NY; several cousins; and former spouse, Marilou (Carpenter) Angelastro of St. Augustine, FL.
Funeral services took place on March 9, 2009 in Pflugerville, TX, and Mr. Staring is buried in Hutto City Cemetery.
