Millerton - Ronald A. Peck, 68, a lifelong Millerton resident, died Sunday, March 1, 2009 at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck.
Mr. Peck worked at Keuffel & Esser Company in Millerton for twenty nine years until his retirement.
Ron loved to walk on the Harlem Valley Rail Trail, and was an honorary member of the Millerton Fire Department. He was also a member of the Millerton Methodist Church.
He served in the U.S. Army for two years during Vietnam, and then in the Army Reserves. He was honorably discharged in 1969, and was a member of the Millerton American Legion Post # 178.
Born in Boston Corners, NY on May 28, 1940, he was the son of the late George and Marion Eggleston Johnson Peck. He moved to Millerton with his family at the age of three, and attended Webutuck High School.
On March 18, 1967 in Millerton Methodist Church, Ron married Lois J. Wright. Mrs. Peck survives at home.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Rhonda Quinn and husband, Christopher, of Palm Coast, FL, Linda Ferolito and husband, Anthony, of Pleasant Valley, Carol Manning and husband, Allyn, of Thomaston, Conn.; three grandsons, Anthony Quinn, and Matthew and Christopher Ferolito; a brother, Arthur Peck of Copake; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Edward and Alan Peck, and a sister, Shirley Conklin.
There are no calling hours.
In keeping with his wishes, Ron will be cremated and his family will hold a memorial service at the Millerton Methodist Church at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Harlem Valley Rail Trail Assoc., Inc., PO Box 356, Millerton, NY 12546. Any donations will be used to purchase a bench in his name.
