Poughkeepsie - Gladys C. Secor, 67, a Poughkeepsie resident since 1965 and previously of Port Glasgow, Scotland, died Thursday, February 26, 2009 at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck.
Gladys was a former waitress at Coppola's Restaurant in Poughkeepsie for many years.
She attended Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie.
Born in London, England on November 9, 1941, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary Sivewright. She served in the British Royal Army.
On May 13, 1967 in Sharon, Conn., she married Richard A. Secor. He predeceased her on February 16, 1984.
Survivors include her two sons, Derrick Secor of Wappingers Falls, and Darren Secor of Poughkeepsie; two brothers, Terry Sivewright and wife, Doreen, and Jim Sivewright and wife, Diane, all of Sheffield, England; two sisters, Jean Murphy of London, England, and Shirley Scott and husband, Len, of Salisbury, England; two brothers-in-law, Gerald Secor and wife, Dolores, of Poughkeepsie, and Bob Secor and wife, Annabelle, of Millbrook; two aunts, Margaret McColloch and husband, Lochart, of Port Glasgow, Scotland, and Cathy Leitch of Sydney, Australia; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, John Sivewright and Jimmy McKeown.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Monday, March 2, 2009 at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James A. Garisto at 10 am, Tuesday, March 3rd at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie.
Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Poughkeepsie.
