Garnett C. Pollard, 89, passed away on Wednesday evening, April 25, 2012 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa.

She was born on March 13, 1923 in Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Ellis and Fredericka (Barth) Abell.

On May 25, 1979, she married Bill Pollard in Ames, Iowa.

Prior to moving to Ames, Garnett resided in Minnesota where she graduated from Tintah High School in 1940. She worked at the St. Francis Home and the Wahpeton Retirement Center in Minnesota after graduating.

She and her husband moved to the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa in January of 1995. Garnett enjoyed crafting, quilting, and playing cards.

Garnett was preceded in death by her husband, Bill on November 4, 1997, son; Terry Brown in 1990 and a granddaughter; Janelle in 1985.

Survivors include one son, Richard Brown and wife Judy of Fergus Falls, Minnesota; one daughter Julie Cameron of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada; one step-son Jim Pollard and wife Peg of Camdenton, Missouri; three step-daughters Joy White and husband Bill of Odessa, Texas, Dee Krueger and husband Kurt of Pensacola Beach, Florida, and Danna Hiner and husband Denny of Camdenton, Missouri; 27 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Following her wishes, the body has been cremated.

A celebration of life graveside service with interment to follow will be held on Saturday morning, June 9th at 11:00 a.m. in the Riverside Cemetery in Breckenridge, Minnesota.

Those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial may direct their gift to the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa.
