Marvel Marie Albright Enslow, 100, formerly of 1014 Hancock Drive, passed away Wednesday morning, August 3, 2011 at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone where she had resided since 2007.

Marvel was born on March 16, 1911, in Guthrie County, Iowa the daughter of Oscar and Lulu (Slaybaugh) Albright.

She was educated in the Guthrie County rural schools and graduated from Bayard High School with the class of 1929. She attended college at the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and graduated from Drake University.

Marvel taught rural schools in Greene County, Boone County, and in the United Community and Boone Community School Districts. She was an active PTA member and officer, and gave many years of dedicated service to the First United Methodist Church of Boone. She was also an active member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, the Retired Teachers Association, and AARP.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin and sisters; Mildred Clark and Greta Kunkle both of Guthrie Center, Lois Hostettler of Jefferson and Margaret Albright; and brothers Kenneth of Roswell, New Mexico and Ronald of rural Guthrie Center.

She is survived by two daughters; Donna Ryan of Evanston, Illinois, and Dixie Francis and husband Chuck of North Platte, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Heather Oldford and husband John of Castle Rock, Colorado, Jaimee McMullen and husband Ken of Palatine, Illinois, and Tim Ryan and fiancée Rebecca Olthafer of Chicago, Illinois; a great-granddaughter Sloane Oldford; 2 brothers Dareld Albright of Des Moines, Iowa and Clifford Albright of Guthrie Center, Iowa; a sister Vera Stone of Bayard, Iowa; many nieces and nephews; and special “adopted” family members, Lynee and Steve Miller and family of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Boston.

Services will be held on Saturday morning, August 6th at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Boone with Rev. Andrea Kraushaar officiating.

Interment will be held in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone, Iowa

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present during that time to greet friends. Visitations will continue on Saturday morning at the Church, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial may direct their gift to the First United Methodist Church or to the Eastern Star Masonic Home both in Boone.
