| Maxine Cryder, 86, of 1305 Doran Circle, Boone, Iowa, passed away at her home on Wednesday evening, April 11, 2007.
She was born on October 15, 1920 in Hamilton County, Iowa, the daughter of Clare and Minnie (Peterson) Cottington. On October 7, 1940 she married Melvin A. Cryder at the bride’s home in Jackson Township. Maxine attended rural schools; Harmony Center in Hamilton County, Smalley School in Boone County, and graduated from Jordan Consolidated School in 1937. She clerked at Red Arrow Grocery Store and was a bookkeeper at Jordan Consolidated School and Cryder Well Company. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Boone, active member of the Old Twenty Planters Garden Club, Centennial Culture Club and several bridge clubs. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, reading, and watching the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. Her parents, and husband Melvin in February of 2007, preceded her in death. Survivors include 1 brother, David (Jan) Cottington of Copperas Cove, TX, 1 sister, Marie Carlson of Ames, IA, 7 nieces and nephews. The body has been cremated. There will be no visitations. Memorial graveside services will be held at a later date at Squire Boone Cemetery, south of Boone, Iowa. The family requests no flowers as there is no visitation. | ||
