Susan M. Colle, 59, of 5009 Oaklyn Drive in Des Moines, Iowa passed away at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday afternoon, December 1, 2006.

She was born on September 25, 1947 in Boone, Iowa the daughter of Yale and Cleo (Uhr) Colle.

Susan graduated from Boone High School in 1965 and Boone Junior College in 1967. She was formerly employed at LOOK magazine and before her retirement, worked for 30 years as a facility planner for Qwest telecommunications. Susan enjoyed sewing and embroidery work and liked to design and paint miniature houses and rooms. She was an avid supporter of Camp Fire for Boys and Girls and was involved with restoring the Herman’s Haven cabin at Camp Hantesa in Boone until poor health due to strokes forced her to abandon her dream.

She was a member of the Embroidery Guild Association and a former member of the First United Methodist Church in Boone.

Her father, Yale, in March of 1987 and mother, Cleo, in October of 1994 preceded her in death.

She is survived by a brother John Colle and his wife Connie of Boone and a long time friend Paul Wierson of Story City, Iowa.

Services will be held Wednesday morning, December 6th at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Boone with Rev. Philip Webb officiating.

Following services, the body will be cremated.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday morning at the First United Methodist Church from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service.

The family will be present Tuesday evening at the Stark-Welin Chapel from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. to greet friends.

Memorials may be given to Camp Hantesa, 1450 Oriole Road, Boone, Iowa 50036.
