| | | Wilbur “Web” Davis, 89, of 422 Monona Street, Boone, IA passed away at his home on Thursday morning, November 2, 2006.
He was born on January 24, 1917 in Dunlap, Iowa, the son of Eliga and Anna Mae (Shreeves) Davis.
On July 16, 1946, he married Joyce O. Pitfield at Seneca, Kansas.
Web was a graduate of Missouri Valley High School. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army as a Tech Sergeant with an anti aircraft unit in the European Theatre and was in the Battle of the Bulge. Following the service he was employed with the Chicago Northwestern Railroad where he worked for 40 years before retiring as a Roadmaster.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and VFW.
His parents, 2 granddaughters, 1 sister, and 1 brother preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Joy, of Boone, Iowa, 2 sons, Ken (Mary) Davis of Buda, TX, Michael Davis of Boone, IA, 1 daughter, Jean (Gary) Achenbach of Boone, IA, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 1 sister, Laura Seastedt of Omaha, NE.
Graveside services and interment with full military honors conducted by the Veterans Council of Boone will be held on Monday afternoon, November 6th at 1:30 P.M. at the Bass Point Cemetery north of Boone, Iowa with Rev. Philip Webb officiating.
There is no visitation.
Memorials may be given to the Disabled American Veterans Association.
