| Jackie Jack Carroll, 56, formerly of Boone, Iowa currently of 201 SW 5th Street in Ogden, Iowa passed away at the Boone County Hospital in Boone on Thursday morning, September 14, 2006.
He was born on December 15, 1949 in Boone, Iowa the son of Cleo and Mary (Russell) Carroll, Sr.. Jack was a 1968 graduate of Boone High School. He enlisted in the US Air Force in 1970, served a tour of duty in Vietnam from 1970 - 1971 and continued his career as an airplane mechanic before being honorably discharged with a rank of Tech Sergeant in 1990, after 20 years of service. He was currently employed as a drywaller with Heideman Dry Wall of Ames. Jack enjoyed restoring old cars, the out-of-doors fishing and hunting, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. His parents and 1 son David Carroll preceded him in death. Survivors include 3 sons Dennis (Kathleen) Carroll of Powell, Ohio, Benjamin Carroll of Ogden, Iowa, Nathen Kuster of Harlan, Iowa; 1 brother Cleo Carroll, Jr. of Boone, Iowa; 4 sisters Margaret (Herman) Schmidt of Liberty, Missouri, Ada Mathews of Boone, Iowa, Kate (Ken) Dorothy of Boone, Iowa, June (Billie) Wharry of Northern, Ireland; 12 nieces and nephews; 4 great-nieces; and 1 great-great nephew. Services will be held on Tuesday afternoon, September 19th at 1:30 p.m. at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone, Iowa with Dr. Richard Harken officiating. Interment with full military honors conducted by the Veterans Council of Boone will be in the Boone Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Boone. Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family will be present at the Stark-Welin Chapel on Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. to greet friends. Stark-Welin Funeral Directors in Boone, Iowa is in charge of arrangements. | ||
