Eleanor Gifford, 90, of 1621 Monona Street in Boone passed away at the Boone County Hospital on Thursday morning, April 14, 2011.

She was born on May 17, 1920, in Minneapolis, Minnesota the daughter of Homer and Edna (Hamlin) Healy.

On September 27, 1941, she married Delmar Gifford at the Fourth Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Eleanor was a graduate of the Miller Vocational High School in Minneapolis. In September of 1975, the couple moved to Boone to make their home. She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing the piano, listening to music, reading, embroidering and doing needlework and cross-stitch.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she was active in Ruth Circle, ABW, was a former Sunday School teacher and choir member, and belonged to NARVRE (National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees).

Her parents; 3 sisters Doris, Francis and Marilyn; and 3 brothers Robert, Richard and Lawrence preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband Delmar; a daughter Marie Pearson and husband Gene of Kansas City, Kansas; 1 son Paul Gifford and wife Barb of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; 5 grandchildren Paul Gifford, Jr. and wife Karna of Granger, Indiana, Michael Gifford and wife Donna of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Jennifer Gifford of Rochester, Minnesota, Doug Pearson and wife Bethany of Mumbai, India and Jonathan Pearson and wife Laura of Gardner, Kansas; 10 great-grandchildren Melissa, Jeffrey, Thomas, Abbey, Emma, and Sarah Gifford and Makenzie, Andre, Adeline and Samantha Pearson; and 1 brother Leonard Healy and wife Florence of Robbinsdale, Minnesota.

Services will be held on Monday morning, April 18th at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Boone with Rev. Jerry Bertelson officiating.

Interment will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to greet friends. Visitations will continue on Monday morning at the Church, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Those wishing to express their sympathies through a memorial may direct their gift to the First Baptist Church.
