Dorothy Figgins, 95, formerly of Boone passed away at the Norwalk Nursing and Rehab Center in Norwalk, Iowa on Saturday morning, March 13, 2010 where she has been a resident since 2000.

She was born of September 10, 1914 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of Hugh and Letitia (Gray) Gillen.

On August 29, 1942, she married Jarold Figgins at Lancaster, Missouri.

She was a 50-year member of the First United Methodist Church where she was active in the Gleanerís Class and Church Circle.

Dorothy loved life to the fullest. Her joy in life was her family and her cats Suzy Q and Choo Choo. She loved spending time with her family on vacations and playing Skipbo. Dorothy was a very good cook and enjoyed dishes at family gatherings. Even during her last days, Dorothy always had a positive attitude and was an inspiration to us all. She will be deeply missed!

Her parents, husband Jarold in December of 1972, and 3 brothers, Robert, Hugh, Jr., and Gene preceded her in death.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Monday morning, March 22nd at 11:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Boone with Rev. Philip Webb officiating.

Interment will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Visitations will be held on Monday morning at the First United Methodist Church prior to the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
