  VIEW/SEND CONDOLENCES

Kris Dale Eschliman, 55, of Boone, died Friday evening, March 6th, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near Pilot Mound.

He was born September 25, 1953, in Sioux City, Iowa the second of two sons born to Dale and Doris (Wray) Eschliman. His family moved to Boone when he was a young child. He attended school in Boone, graduating in 1972.

Kris married Martha Stansbury on August 25, 1973, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. The couple later divorced. Their marriage produced two sons: Anthony Charles and Dustin Jeremy.

He also had three four-legged “kids”—Sage, Ginger and Arty—who were almost always at his side. They frequently rode with him in his truck, even to church or to visit “Grandpa and Grandma” in Boone.

Kris attended Scott Community College in Davenport and later moved to Florida, where he worked as a U.S. Coast Guard-certified small boat captain and as a PADI-certified SCUBA instructor. He returned to Iowa and owned and operated Midwest Diver’s Supply in Boone for a number of years.

He attended Des Moines Area Community College in Boone and Iowa State University, graduating from each with high honors. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in English from ISU.

Kris loved to spend time with friends and family, paintball shooting with his sons and shopping at auctions. At the time of his death, he worked as a computer-aided draftsman and land-surveying technician for Eschliman Engineering, Inc. of Boone.

He regularly attended services at First United Presbyterian Church in Paton. He had just recently welcomed the Lord back into his life.

Survivors include his parents, Dale and Doris Eschliman of Boone; his sons, U.S. Air Force Capt. Anthony Eschliman, D.O. and wife Amy of Misawa, Japan, and Dustin Eschliman and wife Shawna of Des Moines; his brother, Kirk Eschliman and wife Leah Noel of Waterloo; and granddaughters Emma Kaitlyn, Avery Morgan, Kenna Lynn, Isabelle Carissa, Olivia Grace, Allana May and Irelyne Mikell.

Services will be held Wednesday afternoon, March 11th at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Boone with Revs. Dr. Richard Harken and Daniel Emmert officiating.

Interment will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. to greet friends, and again Wednesday morning at the Chapel from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. when the casket will be taken to the Church where visitation will continue from Noon until the time of service.

Memorials may be directed to First United Presbyterian Church in Paton.
