| | | Evalyn Ewing, 82, formerly of 733 6th Street in Boone, passed away at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone on Friday morning, May 16, 2008. She had been a resident at the Home since September of 2005.
She was born on March 1, 1926 in Boone, Iowa the daughter of Edward and Rubye (Marshal) Ewing.
On April 26, 1946, she married E. Hobart DePatten in Iowa City, Iowa. The couple later divorced.
Evalyn graduated from Boone High School and DMACC in Ankeny. She was employed as a printer for 35 years before her retirement. Evalyn enjoyed cross word puzzles.
She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Her parents; a son Kalonji L. Saadig; and 3 brothers Edward, Robert and Paul preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter Breget Medley of Boone; a son Edward H. DePatten, Jr. of Des Moines, Iowa; a step-daughter Alberta Hill of Chesterfield, Virginia; 2 brothers Jon R. Ewing of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Curtis C. Ewing of Spartanburg, South Carolina; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The body was cremated.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday morning, May 21st at 10:30 a.m. at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone with Jack Martz officiating.
Friends may call at the Stark-Welin Chapel in Boone on Tuesday evening for a time of sharing from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. to greet friends.
